How to Secure the Interview with Indeed.com - Part 1

If you’re currently in the thick of job searching, it’s likely that you are utilizing one or more job sites to help you find the perfect job that aligns with your skills and experience. As the world’s #1 job search engine, Indeed.com makes it easy for the perfect candidate and employer to find each other. The Indeed resume and its easy apply option eliminates the pain of completing an online application after the company has already required that you upload your resume. With thousands of open positions right at your fingertips, you can easily apply for several jobs in a matter of minutes. But with so many applications out in the Indeed universe, what’s keeping you from securing the interview?

Employers review hundreds of applications daily, so you can imagine how many applicants are turned down for interviews versus those selected to continue in the recruitment process. The quick glance recruiters take to look at your resume is your opportunity to highlight key skills that would make you the best fit for the position you are applying for. Completing all the steps up front when constructing your Indeed resume will absolutely aid you in your chances of getting an interview.

It’s very common to see Indeed resumes with bare minimum information where applicants only list their name and maybe their previous employers’ information. That’s it. Don’t be lazy! Part of getting the job is selling yourself, and the first representation that employers have of you is your resume. Remember, it’s a ten-second glance, so make it count! Here’s a tip #1: Indeed resumes are set up almost identically to your personal resume. Therefore, you can copy and paste your personal resume right to Indeed. If you don’t have a personal resume, don’t allow that to be your excuse. Thompson & Associates Career Consulting can make it easy for you with a resume edit or rebuild that will give you the foundation for your personal resume.  I'll be sharing tip #2 Next Week! Thanks in advance for letting us help you advance your career goals.
